Explanation of the Title: Prajna Paramita Heart Sutra, Part 137

(Last week we ended with, “Inexhaustible wisdom-life refers to infinite wisdom. Infinite wealth is precisely adorned with infinite seven treasures and radiance. We hear people talk about it all day long, unfortunately, you are not quite functional in all.”)

Have you seen the limitless bright light? In my view, it is a no. 

Why not? Every aspect in your body and mind is muddy. If your body and mind have limitless bright light, this wonderful thing your body is transparent. This transparency is invisible to the naked eye. If you are bright mentally and physically, seeing another person with a bright mind and body will be transparent, and they will also see you with transparency. The ions of our flesh then turn into ions of light is how this is explained. If you let go of today’s afflictions and radiance, even let go of the phenomenal characteristics, then the radiance is beyond description. Presently, using light barely describes the self-nature purity. In the end, one even lets go of the light, and has let go of the concept of neither light nor things (there is no word can fully and correctly describe this condition).    

Basically, you need to live free from resistance, and to live happily you need to change your mindset. For “mindset”, if you can change 20% your body and mind has purified of defiling illusion. Gradually letting go to 30% to 40% or up to 50% and above, then everything goes smoothly.  

One day I came across someone who asked for a son, but he could not get it for 10 years; some are not able to get for more 20 years, and some are not able to get it for 30 years. One day he changed his concept, from his radiant self-nature manifested the thing he wanted. How does it manifest? When he is physically and mentally uncontrolled by erroneous thinking, attachments, and afflictions, he can manifest it. It means that the supernatural power and penetration ability; he can use his mind to control ions to transform into materiality. It is not a magic trick. The magic tricks are the illusions of the eyes. 

But the true self-nature bright light originally which possesses this ability in life is omnipotent, and it can manifest anything. Just like Amitabha Pure Land which manifests from infinite purity, bright light, and the merits of Amitabha. This kind of manifestation is totally different; he even let go of his supernatural ability. Amitabha pledges the 48 universal vows, and even let go of his power of the vows. This is truly proficient, and truly diligence. It is distinctive. 

I think many explanations about proficient diligence are different from mine, they only explain as the name suggests. They do not know that the true proficient diligence is the self-nature’s purity and bright light, and the life energy is endless and inexhaustible. That kind of proficient diligence is real and eternally unchangeable.  It does not change because of returning to this life by re-entering a mother’s womb in preparation for rebirth into this world. 

If today you truly see self-nature’s purity and bright light, then there is no more re-entering a mother’s womb in preparation for rebirth into this world. Furthermore, there does not exist the illusion of intermission between this life and former life after entering the fetus and being reborn. What is called without the illusion of intermission between this life and former life after entering the fetus and being reborn?  If you are truly here to help all beings, after re-entering a mother’s womb in preparation for rebirth into this world, you remember things in your previous lives clearly, but most people forget everything, this is called the illusion of intermission between this life and former lives. You have experienced all kinds of phenomena.

Talking about the Transformation Body of Buddha and Bodhisattvas to re-enter a mother womb in preparation for rebirth into this world; even when they re-enter the womb, they remain in the state of proficient diligence but the bright light in their mind will always remain. Today the Buddha teaching has declined in such a way, mainly because Buddhist disciples do not know the meaning of proficient diligence. They do not know the true implications of “generosity-practice of giving, compliance with moral precepts, tolerance under insult, proficient diligence, Zen meditation to Samadhi, and wisdom”; which is the biggest problem. Since they are not clear about the meaning, therefore, the teachings of Buddha are reduced and have become a religion. 

From the perspective of the 48 Vows of Amitabha, the 18th vow is:
One mindfulness Amitabha sincerely up to ten times and one surely born to Amitabha Pure Land.  

Mindfulness Amitabha from one to ten times in sincerity, is precisely proficient diligence. If you are genuinely proficient and have uninterrupted mindfulness the name of Amitabha, Amitabha moves to respond with you. What kind of interaction? You behold your self-nature’s pure bright light. The moment you see it, your fate of rebirth and death as the round of mortality ends at once.

Common people talk about going and being born to Amitabha Pure Land, in fact, there is no going and no birth. It is to get in touch with that energy- the eternal life and not be subjected to the annihilation energy. Connecting with the self-nature energy of purity, equality, and bright light, and everything is resolved. If you want to help all beings in the world, it can be done in any way. Since you have already let go, everything that needs to be done will be in perfection.

 (九)  精進波羅密

(上星期講到: 慧命無盡:是智慧無量。錢財無量,就是「七寶莊嚴」無量,光明無量。一天到晚聽人講,可惜自己都用不到。)

各位有沒有看到光明無量?我看沒有。

為什麼沒有?你身心各方面一切都是混濁的。如果你的身心光明無量,妙了,身體是透明的。透明的,肉眼是看不見。如果自己身心光明,看到身心光明的那個對方透明,他看你也是透明。我們肉離子就變成光離子,是這樣解釋。如果今天煩惱、光明全部都放下,就是相也放了,那這光就不能形容了。現在勉強用光來形容自性清淨,最後連光都放下了,「非光非物」放下了。

基本上你要能活得自在,活得愉快,要改變觀念。觀念,你如果能改百分之二十,也就是兩成,你身心就清淨。三成、四成慢慢放,放到五成以上,所有事情辦起來都很順利。

有一天碰到有人要求一個兒子,十年都求不到,有的二十年都求不到,有的三十年求不到。有一天他改變觀念了,自性光明中變現出,他想要求的東西。怎麼變現?就是他身心上,不被妄想、執著、煩惱控制的時候,他能變。這變的意思是?是神通,通達。可以用他的意念,控制離子轉化成物質。不是魔術。魔術是幻覺,是眼睛的幻覺。

可是真正原來具有的自性光明,具有生命中的這個能力,那是無事不辦,變什麼都可以變。就像極樂世界,極樂世界是阿彌陀佛無量清淨、光明、功德變的。這個變,不一樣,神通也放下。阿彌陀佛,不是發《四十八大願》, 願力也放下。這是真正的精、真正的進,不一樣。

我想很多解釋「精進」,不是這樣解釋,只是顧名思義。不知道「真正精進」是自性清淨光明,無盡無窮的生命能量。那個精、那個進是真的,不會變,不會因為轉世投胎而變化。

今天真的見到自性清淨光明了,轉世投胎也沒有了,而且沒有「隔陰之迷」。什麼叫沒有「隔陰」?就是你真正來幫助眾生,轉世投胎,前生的事情是記得清清楚楚。而一般人是忘得一乾二淨,這叫隔陰。

你經歷各式各樣的現象。像講佛菩薩「化身」投胎,投胎還在「精進」,心裡面光明永遠保持。今天佛法會衰退成這樣,主要就是佛弟子不知道「精進」的意思。不知道「布施、持戒、忍辱、精進、禪定、般若」,不知道意思,這是大問題。不知道意思,所以佛教就淪為宗教。

從《阿彌陀佛四十八願》裡面去看,第十八願「十念必生」,「一念乃至十念」,從這去看,就是「精進」。

真的是精純而不間斷念這句佛號,就跟阿彌陀佛起感應。起什麼感應?見到自性清淨光明。見到的時候生死就斷了。

世俗人講往生,其實也沒有往、也沒有生;就是跟那能量接觸上了 – 永生不滅的能量,就是跟自性清淨、平等、光明的能量接上了,所有事情全部解決了。你要在世間想要幫助眾生,用任何方式都可以辦。你自己都已經放下了,要辦的事情都會圓滿。
