Prajna Paramita Heart Sutra, Part 12

[Series of Master Shen-Long expounding on the Prajna Paramita (Perfection of Transcendent Wisdom) Heart Sutra]

If from now on you do not opposite yourself against others, your head is clear. Becoming clearer to the level of being without burden, then this person can be called “starting to enter enlightenment”. This so-called “starting to enter enlightenment” is like experiencing a bit of this life in the universe for oneself. This is very important.

This already is no longer the problem of age or whether one is young or old, also it is not necessarily the problem of the maturity of one’s personality – it all depends on whether your mind is influenced by the outside world or not. Honestly speaking, the outside world has no influence on anyone; it is your own discrimination, attachment and delusional thought.

Some people constantly mention: “Fate and fortune tease man”. I also constantly refer to a sentence: “Fate is one’s personality, fortune as the overall condition in life is one’s encounter”. If your personality has changed, your encounters will also change, so think about this. Everyone knows this proverb:

The rivers and mountains may change, but not one’s essential nature.

(You cannot change who you are, can a leopard change its spots?).

This sentence is a killer to many people; I think approximately 80% were ruined by these words. One does not feel one can make the change, it is a pity to be limited by one’s own restriction. Originally, our life condition is not this way; everyone’s appearance is also not like this way. All phenomena manifests from the mind!

Since all phenomena manifests from the mind, why is it that for some persons when we look at them, we all like them very much?

When we look at them we feel very pleasant, like being soaked in the warm and cozy spring wind, and we love to get close to them. Some people when we look at them, we respect them but keep a respectful distance. Even sometimes we look at ourselves, one day we look good, another day we look ugly, the next day we are good looking again. Sometimes when we are in a bad mood, for a couple months we are disgusted with ourselves entirely, constantly mad at the self and make life difficult for the self. I trust most people have had the same feeling; where does it come from?

It is because your mind has misleading views and ways of thinking, then it produces this kind of phenomena.
